1. What Frase Cards is

Frase Cards is a language-learning app that generates AI-powered example sentences to help you learn vocabulary and grammar in real context, using spaced repetition to schedule your reviews. It currently covers Spanish, French, Italian, and European Portuguese.

2. Who we are

Frase Cards is run from the United Kingdom by Joe Dimambro (17 Finsbury Road, Stockport, SK5 6EZ, United Kingdom). You can contact us at joe@givingitajoe.com.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure, and for anything that happens under your account. One account per person.

4. Free trial and subscription

New accounts get a 14-day free trial, no payment card required, capped at 20 words added in total, 5 words a day, and one language at a time — whichever limit is reached first. Once your trial ends, you can continue reviewing everything you've already added for free, indefinitely. Sentences you've already mastered will pause there rather than continuing to grow into harder versions — this resumes automatically as soon as you subscribe. Adding new words, or switching to a different language, requires a paid subscription.

A subscription costs £2.99 per month, billed monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. It renews automatically each month until you cancel. Nothing is ever charged unless you complete checkout, and the price is shown there before you pay.

You can cancel at any time from Settings (Manage subscription). Your subscription then stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for and won't renew; everything you've added remains yours to review afterwards, same as if your trial had simply ended. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry it for a short period, and if it still can't be taken your subscription will end.

If we ever change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days beforehand and the new price will apply only from your next renewal after that — you can cancel before then if you don't want to continue.

5. Your right to cancel

If you're a consumer, you have the right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason. Because the service starts as soon as you subscribe, by subscribing you ask us to start immediately. If you then cancel within the 14 days, you'll pay a proportionate amount for the time you've had the service, and we'll refund the rest. To cancel and be refunded, email us at joe@givingitajoe.com. This doesn't affect your ability to cancel renewals at any time from Settings.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use the app to generate, submit, or store illegal, abusive, or harmful content. Don't attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse our systems (including automated or excessive use of the AI generation features beyond normal personal use), or to get around the limits of the free trial. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this.

7. AI-generated content

Example sentences are generated by AI and then independently re-checked by an automated process for grammar, natural phrasing and translation accuracy. We take this seriously and it's a core part of how the app works — but AI-generated content can occasionally still be wrong, and we can't guarantee absolute perfection. Frase Cards is a study aid, not a substitute for a teacher or qualified translator. If you spot something incorrect, we'd genuinely like to know — you can report it directly from Settings.

8. Your content and our content

You keep any rights to the words and phrases you personally choose to add. We own the app itself — its design, code, and branding — and you don't get any rights to that just by using the service.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, yourself, from Settings — this is immediate and permanent, and it cancels any active subscription at the same time so you won't be charged again. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

10. Our responsibility to you

We'll provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We work hard to make it reliable and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer (including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015), or any liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we're not responsible for losses that weren't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, or for any business losses.

11. Changes to these terms

If we make meaningful changes to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where the change matters to you, let you know.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
