Frase Cards

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 July 2026

Frase Cards ("we," "us," "the app") is a Spanish language-learning app that generates AI-powered example sentences to help you learn vocabulary and grammar in real context. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (your password is hashed by our authentication provider — we never see or store it in readable form). You may optionally provide your name, which we use to personalize the app.

We automatically detect your device's time zone so your daily review schedule lines up correctly with your actual day — this is a general time zone setting (e.g. "Europe/London"), not your precise location.

Learning content and progress

As you use the app, we store the words and phrases you add, the example sentences generated for you, your review history (what you rated, and when), and your progress and mastery data. This is the core data that makes the app work — without it, we can't schedule your reviews or track your progress.

Automatically collected information

Like virtually all web apps, our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard technical information as part of normal operation — such as IP address and request timestamps. We don't use this for tracking or profiling; it exists purely to serve the app to you.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to: provide and maintain your account, schedule and personalize your reviews, generate relevant example sentences, and improve the app's reliability. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

3. Who we share information with

We share information with a small number of service providers who help us run the app, and only to the extent necessary for them to do that job:

  • Supabase, our database and authentication provider, stores your account and learning data securely on our behalf.
  • Anthropic, whose AI models generate your example sentences and dictionary lookups, receives only the specific word or phrase you're adding — not your email, name, or other account details.
  • Vercel hosts the app and processes standard web traffic as described above.

We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

4. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all of your data — your profile, words, sentences, and review history — is permanently and immediately deleted from our systems. This isn't a "soft" deletion; once it's done, it cannot be undone or recovered by us.

5. Your rights and choices

You can review and update your name and learning preferences at any time from Settings. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data yourself, at any time, from Settings — no need to contact us.

If you're in the UK or EU, you have additional rights under data protection law, including the right to access a copy of your data, correct inaccurate data, and object to certain processing. Since self-service deletion is available directly in the app, most requests can be handled instantly without needing to contact us — but you're welcome to reach out with any question using the details below.

6. Security

Your data is protected by row-level security rules that ensure only you can ever access your own account data, and all traffic to and from the app is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are never stored in readable form.

7. Children's privacy

Frase Cards is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, children under 16.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
